  • This training is being offered to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal health professionals to increase their knowledge and skills to work with Aboriginal people who choose to inject drugs. The consequences of blood-borne viruses (BBVs) can have devastating effects for individuals, families and their communities.
    Topics covered:
    understanding the impacts of colonisation and working in empowering ways with Aboriginal people
    culturally effective communication
    understanding blood-borne viruses and yarning about them
    harm reduction strategies
    brief interventions
    culturally secure models for assessment.
    Resources and activities to improve skills will take place throughout the day.
    Applications close 1 June 2015.
