Quitskills smoking cessation training (Indigenous) (WA)

Event Details

  • These workshops aim to support people in South Hedland, Western Australia (WA), working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to assist them to quit smoking.

There are two course components, delivered by the Cancer Council SA as part of their 'Smoking cessation training for tackling Indigenous smoking courses.' The first course is a three day workshop which will provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to quit smoking. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will recieve three units of competency and an academic transcript from TAFE SA.

The second course is a two day workshop for graduates who have already completed the original Quitskills training course. The workshop will provide a refresher on the content that was covered by the original course, as well as updated smoking cessation information (including nicotine replacement therapy) and provide participants with some motivational interviewing skills.

Quitskills is a nationally recognised training course on smoking cessation.

Please note that the training is provided free of charge, however travel and accommodation costs are not covered. Registration closes 19 February 2016.
