Public health and disasters regional course

Event Details

  • The City of Bunbury and Shire of Augusta-Margaret River, on behalf of the Public Health and Clinical Services Division, WA Department of Health, are hosting a Public health course focusing on disaster preparedness.

    The course is aimed at increasing participant’s awareness of the considerations for preventing, preparing, responding and recovering from a disaster that may compromise public health.

    Guest speakers with extensive experience cover issues such as:
    *roles and responsibilities of response agencies, including local government
    *water and sanitation
    *vector control
    *mass gatherings
    *communicable diseases
    *re-establishing basic infrastructure.

    The course is targeted at Public Health practitioners, including community health staff, environmental health officers, public health staff and infection control staff. Others who may be involved in the emergency response to public health events are also encouraged to attend.
