Aboriginal training - what's up with my mob?

  • What's up with my mob educational resource aims to challenge and test past perceptions of Aboriginal peoples and their culture and will encourage a more respectful understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, work mates and society in general. The workshop will address cultural realities in order to improve service delivery to Aboriginal clients and co-workers.
    1. Learn about the three major issues which impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
    a. transgenerational trauma
    b. lateral violence
    c. cultural loads
    2. Identify and consider the actual and potential impacts of these issues upon Aboriginal peoples
    3. Develop the skills for managing clients and families affected by these issues
    4. Learn about available resources to better provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and families.
    The workshops will be held in the following locations:
    Perth - 15 September, 2014
    Mandurah - 16 September, 2014
    Bunbury - 17 September, 2014
